Qualifications We are a non-profit organization which uses trained volunteers for the crisis line. We also have a LISCW on staff. Practice Description The philosopy of the Samaritans is to (1)befriend and offer emtional support at any hour of the day or night through our crisis help lines in an atmosphere of caring, compassion and confidentiality to those in crisis, lonely , despairing or suicidal, (2) to support and strengthen survivors of suicide and those impacted by depression, hopelessness and despair, (3) to promote emotional wellness and suicide rpevention through community outreach, education and prevention services, (4) to raise awareness that suicide is preventable through training programs, (5) to provide intervention and postvention services when necessary and (6) to provide suicide awareness, prevention and intervention training for gatekeepers of the elderly.
