My focus in working with clients is to help clients gain and maintain control of themselves and their lives despite present and past stresses and trauma. To this end, I use a variety of approaches in my work, tailored to the client, including solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, supportive, family systems, strategic.
As an African-American female, first-generation Nigerian-American, and a single parent, I am especially sensitive to issues of difference.
My areas of experience include, but are not limited to: individual/couples/family/group therapy, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, social phobia, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychotic disorders, addictions, dual diagnosis (mental health and addictions), posttraumatic stress disorder, trauma issues, abuse issues, violence, grief/loss/bereavement, stress management, anger management, psychotic disorders, adjustment disorders, personality disorders, borderline personality disorder, family issues, childhood issues, child and adolescent development, relationship issues, parenting issues, self-esteem issues, self-image issues, identity issues, eating issues, codependency, suicidality, self-mutilation, work issues, aging issues.
