I believe that all people have the ability to grow, learn, and heal no matter what issues they are currently contending with and no matter what obstacles they've been faced with throughout life. I believe that we all possess strengths and answers within and it is the therapist's role to assist with getting back in touch with one's inner wisdom, awareness, and knowledge. I have been trained as a humanistic, client-centered, and interpersonal therapist and continue to rely heavily on the belief that we are all social creatures who long to be connected, balanced, self-confident and reaching our full potential.
I have eleven years experience working with clients who are experiencing a wide variety of problems including mood disorders, behavior or conduct disorders, and relationship issues/conflicts. I enjoy working with children and adolescents and have specialized in providing play therapy to kids who have experienced trauma and loss. I often find it imperative to include the parents in our work and invite family members to participate in sessions as needed, honoring and recognizing the comfort level of various family members involved. While most people primarily come to me seeking individual therapy, I have found both family and couples therapy to be beneficial for my clients and enjoy this work as well.
While reaching out for therapy is often scary at first, most clients I have worked with start to feel more comfortable with the process once we have begun to talk and they have been given an opportunity to ask questions about what they might expect during our work together. I offer evening and weekend hours at two office locations (LaGrange and Oak Park, Illinois). There is easy access to public transportation nearby both office locations.
