Description Of Practice
For many years I have enjoyed being a psychotherapist dedicated to collaborating with people seeking to improve their lives. Our group has a long term commitment with the evolution of Cognitive Therapy with the experience, and training that substantiates credibility. For 3 years, I was faculty at the original Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied under Aaron T. Beck, M.D. In 1985, I began Atlanta Center for Cognitive Therapy (ACCT). For the past 21 years I have also trained other therapists in the Cognitive model.
By incorporating cognitive and behavioral exercises along with work on attention and meditation methods, I work with clients in the pursuit of emotional well being. This has been my passion and the major focus of my career. Please see the ACCT website for more information.
As adjunct faculty member with both the Emory University Department of Psychiatry and GSU Department of Psychology, I have supervised students and medical residents. In 1991, I was board certified. In 2008, I am first author of Overcoming Depression: A Cognitive Therapy Approach for Taming the Depression BEAST, published by Oxford University Press.
Additional Information
Our Center is credentialed by American Psychological Association to offer continuing education to professionals. We also have National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) credential to offer CE for counseling. Our program for certification in Cognitive Therapy has been presented in locations all around the world. We currently send DVD programs for those who cannot attend educational offerings in Atlanta.
