Life is about finding our way, our own path in a world of many paths. Transitions are about finding our life. Some transitions we put off until we can no longer avoid facing ourselves. Facing one's self is a life-changing experience; like an onion, the layers of doubt and fear must be peeled back to reveal the gift of truth, authenticity, and acceptance within.
Helen's practice focuses on women's issues, young people, isolation, social anxiety, trauma, sexuality, and gender. Of particular importance is the examination of wellness and self-care as an integral part in healing, growth and authenticity.
Clients will find a safe, accepting and affirming environment in which to explore themselves and their path.
Intelligent, bright, motivated, goal-focused, busy people are often the last to come to a therapist for help. After all, you've discovered in your life that you are good at a lot of things: career, home, friends, hobbies, etc. It's hard to imagine that you can't find your own way on dealing with issues about your health and wellness.
Yet it does happen. Sometimes we get stuck. It's as if we're trapped in a causality loop, repeating patterns, errors, or experiencing the same horrible feelings and outcomes over and over again. Often it may be a lack of self-care. Smart people, for all their abilities, are often the worst at taking time out for themselves and giving themselves those quiet moments to rest the mind.
Sometimes you might just need a little help to get yourself back on track, by a therapist who can help you discover insights that enable you to again be engaged with life.

Gender is a gift. It is a unique and defining aspect of one's existence. Gender exists in mind, soul, and body. When gender of the mind or soul or body is not in congruence, then there are issues of division, pain, and suffering. It is only by examining who one is, by seeking to understand one's unique gift, that congruence, peace, and healing can begin. Transition is not a solution, but the beginning of a journey on a long path toward wellness. Perhaps, for the very first time in one's life, it can truly be said we are learning to live. And that is the gift itself -- living.
