If you are new to counseling, don't worry. It is not as complicated as it might seem. Really, it is just another avenue to gather more information about yourself. I am here to help you sort through that information and give you a little direction - a road map of life, so to speak. And just like a map there are several paths you can take to reach your destination. I have over 15 years experience in helping people from diverse backgrounds with various issues. I am open to hearing about others' experiences, even those experiences considered "outside the box" or outside the mainstream of our culture.
Sometimes all it takes is reframing what you already know for yourself. Sometimes it means learning new coping skills to replace the old skills that are not working anymore. If you are troubled by situations in the here and now, I can help you develop strategies that are solution-focused. If you are wondering about the stuff that happened way back when, and how that might be impacting your life, I can assist you in sorting through the past and keep you focused on making today work for you. Change is often difficult, but the rewards are well worth it. Only you can begin this piece of your journey.
I offer services face-to-face and online. Face-to-face sessions are typically one hour in length but this is negotiable. While I actively listen I also engage you in problem solving, brainstorming and hypothesizing about what might be going on and what solutions will work. In this way, the process is collaborative. My primary goal is assisting you in moving to a place of inner peace. As with anything in life, sometimes the process is painful and uncomfortable but I will do everything I can to make you feel safe during the journey. Sometimes the issues we work on will be short and may require only a few sessions while other issues may best be worked through over a longer period of time.
