BIOGRAPHY: D. J. DIEBOLD
I was born in Oak Park, Illinois, the home of Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright. The oldest of four boys within five years, attended St. Joseph High School in Westchester, run by the tough, discipline-minded Christian Brothers.
While attending DuPage College, was drafted into the U.S. Army and was a Personnel Management Specialist and Vietnam Era Veteran. Subsequent to military duty, attended Northern Illinois University, earning my degree in Sociology, with an emphasis on behavior modification and cultural competency.
At the Illinois Youth Center/Joliet, performed clinical counseling in a maximum-security setting to both gang-related youths and their families. Also gave seminars on such topics as Frustration Tolerance, Insight and Judgment, Organic Dysfunction, Behavior Modification and Suicide Ideation.
Continuing to counsel, this time for Arizona State Prison and later, New Arizona Family, Inc. in Phoenix as a Behavioral Health Professional in the role of Board Certified and State Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor. (LISAC-11485) Clinical services clientele included probationers and parolees mandated to court ordered treatment, in addition to general mental health clients.
In addition, have counseled for The Gila River Health Care Corporation providing services for the Gila River and Ak Chin Native American Tribes on the reservation, just southeast of Phoenix, AZ. This population requires unique skills and a proficient level of cultural competency.
Recently, Clinical Liaison for the Maricopa County Drug Court and currently Clinical Coordinator for Community Medical Service, an opiate based treatment facility.
